Pittsburgh kombucha lovers, rejoice! You may have wept when the Pittsburgh Public Market closed its doors, and your unfettered access to this delicious carbonated beverage seemed doomed. Dry your tears- the time for despair is over. You’ll be able to find kombucha from the oldest kombucha brewery in Pittsburgh in our very own Bayne Park!
It’s true! Red Star Kombucha will be joining the Bellevue Farmers Market every week, all season long! We can’t wait to try all of their tasty flavors, like cranberry ginger, blueberry lavender, and holy basil spice.
From Red Star’s website:
“Kombucha is made by brewing tea from the leaves of the tea plant (Camellia sinensis), adding sugar, and then fermenting the sweetened tea with a kombucha SCOBY (Symbiotic Colony Of Bacteria and Yeast). The yeasts consume the majority of the sugar, producing nutrients, B vitamins, carbonation, and a small amount of alcohol while the bacteria create probiotics helpful for digestion and a delicious tart clean flavor. The finished beverage may be flavored with fruits, herbs, and botanicals. Our kombucha is raw, unpasteurized, and unfiltered.
Many of our customers report that drinking kombucha regularly has improved their digestive health and overall well-being.”
